Home Electrification

We must stop using natural gas to get to zero carbon. The California grid is transitioning swiftly to net zero. Money is pouring in from both state and federal governments to switch homes to electricity and off gas. HEA has expanded Smart Audit to support electrification by utilizing the rich analytical possibilities of AMI data.

We use AMI to:

  • Guide users through the carbon reduction benefits of electrifying different appliances.

  • Do an initial estimate of appliance sizing in a comprehensive contractor report

  • Study electrification issues across a population of customers

Home Electrification is included in HomeIntel Savings Program.

CO2 Reduction estimate

Through the AMI data we estimate the CO2 reduction potential by getting rid all gas appliances. The new emissions are calculated based on the carbon content of the electricity reported by the utility

The data presented is from an actual home in Northern California

Information for Contractors

Below is a portion of the detailed report Smart Audit generates for contractors.

Population Analysis - Available Panel Capacity

HEA analyzed 22,000 customers to estimate how many electric panels need to be upgraded to support electrification. Our analysis shows there is much greater panel capacity than has been commonly assumed. Greater panel capacity means lower-cost electrification, good news for making federal and state incentives go further.
